DEPARTMENT OF EXCISE AND TAXATION, PUNJAB
PUBLIC APPOINTMENTS

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the recruitment of 160 (one hundred and sixty) posts of Excise & Taxation Inspectors (Group C) in the Excise and Taxation Department, Punjab, as per the proforma appended below. The other details are given as under:-

Name of Posts - Excise and Taxation Inspectors

Number of Posts - 160 (One hundred and sixty)

Scale of Pay -
The Scale of Pay will be Rs.5480-160-5800-200-7000-220-8100-275-8925 plus usual allowances.

Age Limit - Candidates should be between 18 to 35 years as on 1.1.2008

Qualifications - (As on 15.09.2008)
Candidate should be a graduate from a recognized University or institution or its equivalent and should have passed Punjabi subject upto Matric standard.
However, in the case of Ex-servicemen, riot victims persons or member of a family of a person killed as a result of terrorist action in the State, the person if selected will have to pass Punjabi of Matriculation standard within six months from the date of joining the service, if they do not possess it already.

Candidate should possess atleast 120 hours course with working experience in the use of Personal Computers or Information Technology in Office Productivity applications or Desktop Publishing Applications from a Govt. recognized institution or a reputed institution which is ISO 9001 certified.

OR
A computer Information Technology Course equivalent to ‘O’ level certificate of DOEACC of Govt. of India.

The candidate should possess the above-mentioned qualifications on or before the last date of receipt of applications. Candidates not possessing the essential qualification shall not be considered.

Reservation
Reservation shall be as per the policy/instructions of the Punjab Government.

Selection Procedure
Selection will be based on written examination only. There will not be any interview. The merit will be prepared on the basis of this written examination only. The question paper will be provided in English and it will have 150 questions, each carrying one mark, as per the details given below:-

General English – 25 questions.
General Knowledge – 25 questions.
Mental Ability – 50 questions
Mathematical skills (with Matric as the difficulty level) – 50 questions.

Examination Centers
The examination will be conducted in the following Cities :
Chandigarh, Patiala Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Bathinda, and Amritsar

A candidate can indicate two places of his/her choice in order of preference.

The examination will be held tentatively in the month of November, 2008.

ApplicationFee
(a) General Category : Rs. 500/-
(b) Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes : Rs. 250/-
(c) All the ex-servicemen of Punjab are exempted from the payment of fee.

The requisite fee should be in the shape of crossed bank draft/pay order/ bankers’ cheque/postal order in favour of Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Punjab, payable at Patiala. Candidate should write name and address on the back side of bank draft/pay order/bankers’ cheque/postal order.

How to Apply
The completed application form should be sent by Registered post/courier/by hand to

The Excise & Taxation Commissioner, Punjab, Bhupindra Road, Patiala – 147001.

The last date for submission of application shall be 15th September, 2008 before 5.00 PM

in the office of the Excise & Taxation Commissioner, Punjab, Patiala. No application shall be entertained after this date and time. On the top of the envelope, containing the application form, “Application for the post of Excise and Taxation Inspector” should be written in bold letters. The department will not be responsible for any postal delay.

Three recent (not earlier than three months from the date of application) colour passport size photographs with clear front view of the candidate without cap and sunglasses should be sent alongwith the application form. Two photographs should be pasted on the application form in the space provided. Xerox copy of photographs is not permitted.

Handicapped persons who are suffering from less than 40% of disability shall not be eligible for the posts in handicapped category.

The candidates can send their applications either on a neatly typed proforma (as per specimen appended with this advertisement) or the proforma downloaded from the department’s website : http://www.pextax.com

    you are an Engineer. Note the qualification for the above post which is furnished below

    1.Qualifications : (As on 15.09.2008)

    i want to know that in your advertisement you have mentiones that the reservation will be given under the punjab rule and accordig to punjab rule in SC category there are further two categories such as SC(M/B) and SC(R)and seats which falls under SC category are equally devided into these two categories but in your performa you have not asked for the Sub Category Such as SC(M/B)or SC(R).Then i just want to know that how you will make different merit list for candidaes who falls in SC(M/B) or in SC(R).
