Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) is a consistently profit making blue chip Navratna Public Sector Enterprise. 1. Qualification:
Candidates applying should have passed the qualifying examination with the minimum percentage of Marks as detailed below - as on 1st September, 2008. Result awaited candidates need not apply.

2. Age:
a. Eligibility shall be reckoned as on 1st September 2008; minimum – 21 Years and maximum – 30 Years.
b. Relaxations in age shall be subject to fulfilling other laid down eligibility conditions.
c. The maximum relaxation in age permissible for different categories shall be as under.

Ex-Service Men Ex-servicemen who have put in not less than six months continuous service in Armed Forces of the Union shall be allowed to deduct the period of such service from their actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed by more than 3 years the maximum age limit prescribed for the post for which the candidate seeks appointment, s/he shall be deemed to satisfy the condition regarding the age limit.
Departmental Candidates Five (5) years for all candidates who are MTNL employees irrespective of their category, i.e., General/SC/ST/OBC/PH etc.
3. Selection, Posting & Training:
The candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria shall be invited to participate in an Objective-type Written Test to be followed by Personal Interview for shortlisted candidates. Pre-employment medical examination shall be conducted for qualified candidates.
Selected candidates will be required to execute a Service Bond to serve MTNL for a period of five (5) years after successful completion of training. They will undergo training for one year. It shall comprise of centralized Induction Training at the Company’s state-of-the-art Centre for Training in Telecom & Management (CETTM) at Powai, Mumbai followed by on-the-job training at the Unit where posted.
Selected candidates can be posted to any Division / Unit / Office of MTNL or any of its Subsidiaries /JVs in India or abroad where the interest of MTNL so warrants, at the sole discretion of the MTNL Management as and when required. No preference for posting shall be considered. No request for change in the place of posting shall be considered. However, request for inter-Unit transfer may be considered at the sole discretion of MTNL, in deserving cases, on mutual basis only after completion of minimum five years of service post-training.
4. Pay & Emoluments:
Selected candidates will be entitled to a Stipend of Rs. 12,000/- per month during the training period. On successful completion of training they shall be appointed in the IDA Pay Scale of Rs. 10,750-300-16750 (pre-revised) and shall be on a Probation for one year. During the probation period, in addition to Basic Pay, they shall be entitled to HRA / Subsidized Company Accommodation and other benefits like Medical facilities, Productivity Link Incentives, Gratuity, Contributory Provident Fund, CCA, LTA, Leave Encashment, etc. At the minimum of the Pay Scale, the CTC is around Rs. 3.7 Lakhs per annum. The pay scales are due for revision with effect from 1st January 2007.
5. Vacancies:
The above vacancies are indicative and may vary at the time of making final selection as per the decision of MTNL. Reservation of posts for candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy layer) / PH categories shall be as per directives of the Government of India in force at the time. For reservation in PH category, candidates with the following shall only be considered in JAO (Trainee) and Management Trainee category.

6. Examination:
The Written Examination shall be of Objective Type. It shall be designed to test the candidate’s General Ability and Managerial Aptitude covering areas of General English, Reasoning and Logical Deduction, Numerical Ability and General Awareness along with knowledge of the candidate’s relevant discipline. The examination shall be of two hours thirty minutes (2 Hours 30 Minutes) duration, simultaneously conducted at all Centres for all disciplines.
7. How to apply:

9. General:
a. A candidate can apply for only one post.
b. The courses offered by Autonomous Institutions should be equivalent to the relevant courses approved / recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) / UGC / AICTE.
c. Wherever CGPA/ OGPA or letter grade is awarded, equivalent percentage of marks should be indicated in the application as per the norms adopted by the University / Institute.
d. Other things remaining the same, preference shall be given to candidates possessing higher and / or additional qualification in the line as well as post-qualification experience beyond the minimum eligibility requirements of qualification/experience.
e. Candidates employed in Government / Semi Government Departments/ PSUs / Autonomous Bodies shall be required to produce NOC at the time of interview if their application has not been forwarded through Proper Channel.
f. Candidates appearing in the final year of qualifying examination and awaiting results are not eligible.
g. The list of proposed Examination Centres is tentative and shall depend upon the response received from that area. MTNL reserves the right to alter / cancel / add any Centre depending on the response from candidates. However, no request for change of Examination Centre shall be entertained for any reason under any circumstances.
h. Application forms should only be accompanied with Demand Draft, Caste / PH certificate as applicable and no other enclosures.
i. Demand Drafts payable at locations other than Delhi/ New Delhi will not be accepted. Money Order/Pay Order/Cheque/Cash or any other mode of payment shall not be accepted.
j. MTNL shall not be responsible for any postal delay or loss in transit. No request in this regard will be entertained.
k. Candidates are advised to retain a photocopy of their Application and Demand Draft for future reference.
l. Candidates shall be required to appear in the Written Test at their own expenses. No Traveling Expenses will be paid for the purpose.
m. Short-listed candidates called for Interview shall be reimbursed to and fro travel expenses limited to 2nd Class (Sleeper Class) Rail fare or actuals, whichever is less, by shortest route, from their native place or place of residence or place from where actually traveled, on production of proof of journey.
