XAT this year was a tough nut to crack. With 104 questions across three sections, the test was comparatively a difficult one with a lot of time consuming questions included in the test.
The Verbal section had quite a few knowledge intensive questions based on concepts like figures of speech. The RC passages were dense and tough to assimilate. The Analytical and Decision Making section had a few LR based questions along with a few caselet based questions. Couple of the case studies were comparatively easier and could be solved in quick time. The Quant section had a healthy mix of DI/DS and PS questions. The DI questions were mostly calculation-intensive. Most of the PS questions were based on the usual concept areas but were lengthy and time consuming in nature. Overall the questions required considerable use of logic, especially the VA/RC section and the Analytical/Decision-Making Section. On the basis of initial reactions one can safely conclude that both the sectional as well as overall cutoffs would be significantly lower than those of last year.
