Background / General description
The Information Solutions Group (ISG) is the World Bank’s central function for the provision of information and technology services to the Bank’s business units. Bank IT strategy is designed to align IT initiatives with the Bank’s business strategy. The overarching objective is to ensure that end-users have the information and systems to do their job at HQ and in the Country Offices. The management of most of the end-user IT services, business solutions and the underlying technology infrastructure is centralized with ISG.

Within ISG, the ISGEB division develops and supports several core business applications for the Bank Group using SAP, Peoplesoft, BMC Remedy etc.. The team works closely with business offices, other WBG IT teams and with contractual services partners globally to deliver these services.

Business Processes supported in SAP by the Bank:
They support a number of key business processes, including Loan and Trust fund Administration, financials, procurement, budgeting and costing, travel management etc. We use out-of-the-box solution from SAP’s FI, MM, CO, FM, IM modules as well as a large complement of custom applications to support these processes.

SAP was implemented in the Bank back in 1999, and over time, a number of applications have been added to the system. Current SAP ERP version in use is 4.7.
Chennai ISGEB Team

They are setting up an ISGEB team at the World Bank’s Chennai office. This team will support SAP ERP applications, and other business applications. We expect the scope of application systems supported in Chennai to grow over a period of time.

These positions are for the team that will support SAP ERP applications
Note: If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 3 year renewable term appointment.
Duties and Accountabilities

• Support application systems in the Loan Systems (FI, major custom development) area. This support includes design, development, and deployment of enhancements and bug fixes to both simple and complex custom applications that use ABAP dialog programming and J2EE webdynpro. This work needs to be carried out in a fully compliant Software Development Lifecycle Methodology set out by ISG. To provide effective support, the team members need to fully grasp ISGEB supported business processes.

• Provide production support in the abovementioned application areas. This support includes troubleshooting of reported issues, and then coding, testing and implementing corrections to resolve issues, batch job monitoring etc.

• Take the lead in performing software development and maintenance tasks, and contribute as a team member on larger initiatives; provide input to project estimates.

• Create conceptual, functional and technical design specifications.

• Analyze existing systems functionality and identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.

• Integrate the solutions developed with other applications that interact with loan systems.

• Adhere to quality standards and procedures, and review modules for quality assurance and compliance.

• Develop and maintain application architecture diagrams.

• Assist in capturing, tracing and reporting on operational metrics.

• Effectively interact with all technical teams in the Bank as well as clients distributed around the globe.

• Participate in internal and external audits and compliance attestations and assessments.

Selection Criteria

• B.Sc / B. E / B. Tech in software or systems engineering, computer science, information systems management or equivalent. A Master’s degree in software or systems engineering, computer science, information systems management or equivalent would be preferred.

• Minimum of four years of relevant experience, including three years of having performed well in a similar SAP specific role.

• Proven experience in complex SAP application solution analysis, design, integration and implementation skills.

• Strong ABAP skills with experience in dialog programming. Experience in ABAP objects, J2EE webdynpro environment, SAP report painter is a strong plus.

• Solid troubleshooting, analytical, and problem solving skills in an SAP environment.

• Functional Expertise in the SAP FI (GL, SL) module is preferred.

• Design and documentation skills for implementation of business solutions. e.g. solution approach, impact analysis, functional specifications, unit and integration test plans

• Experience with interfaces between SAP and non SAP systems

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated team player with a results oriented track record, with the maturity to escalate issues as needed.

• Proven ability to learn new functionality and technologies quickly.

• Experience in delivering quality-centric support and solutions

• Knowledge of compliance requirements with financial system controls and audits

• Proven experience in software development/maintenance Work with teams distributed across geographical locations
