Timing: 8- 5
Weekly Hours: 48 Hours
Weekly Off: Fri and Sat, conditions apply

Experience: 4-5 years

JOB TITLE REGISTERED NURSE
RESPONSIBLE TO CLINICAL AND QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER
JOB SUMMARY
In partnership with the medical team, is responsible for the smooth-running and management of patient care in the centre’s out-patient services.
Out-patient Services is comprised of the care provided at the Day Care Center to the patient from pre-admission through post-procedural follow-up.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manages the day-to-day activities of assigned clinical area in coordination with all other multidisciplinary services and staff.
2. Delivers a high standard of care to all patients, ensuring evidence based practice is utilized to deliver required care.
3. Assesses and anticipates patient health care needs and applies required interventions based on specialized knowledge and skills
4. Ensures patients are given required instruction and education regarding procedures, their disease process and its management in collaboration with the Physician.
5. Ensures care is delivered considering cultural beliefs, in a kind courteous manner ensuring confidentiality and privacy.
6. Ensures safe, effective use of equipment and cost effective utilization of supplies.
7. Participates in progressive improvement/quality improvement programs to improve clinical practice and patient care deliverance.
8. Actively participates in continuing education and self development programs to keep knowledge and skills current.
9. Participates in research studies and clinical investigations as organized by the Center.
10. Performs other professionally related duties as required by the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
1. BSN or Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
2. Current Nursing License registration from country of training/origin.
3. Minimum of five years clinical experience in an acute care setting.
4. Current knowledge and experience in diabetic care management.
5. Research experience preferred.
Diabetes Educator
Position Title : Diabetes Educator
Department : Diabetes Education and Research
Reports To :
Manager of Diabetes Education and Training
Responsible for:
Assisting and where necessary, deputizing for Department
Manager Development and implementation of diverse Diabetes Education Programs Educational Research programs – support, development and initiation
Cooperation and coordination of education and training programs within the Institute
Cooperation and coordination of programs within the country, region and internationally
Qualifications:
Requirements:
• Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current practicing registration required (BSN) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Current Nursing license.
• Completed an Accredited Diabetes Education Program – minimum length 8 months postgraduate.
• 5 years experience in the field of Diabetes Education preferred
• Research experience a recommendation

1. Participates in the development of standards, procedures and protocols related to diabetes education. Ensures that education methodologies are researched, evidence-based and current.
2. Participates in the planning and implementation of diverse diabetes education for both professionals and non – professionals, including the development of novel methodologies for education, and the research pertaining to the development of these programs
3. Plans, implements and evaluates educational diabetes programs, including Insulin Pump Programs
4. Develops and reviews instructional materials. Maintains program records.
5. Organizes the performance and skill assessment of staff in relation to diabetic management skills. Develops skills assessment programs.
6. Participates in and initiates research projects in a supportive and leadership role as applicable. Research projects to be published in peer reviewed journals and presented at international meetings
7. Communicates and consults with other disciplines. Act as a resource for patients and staff in diabetes.
8. Acts as a clinical wide model and resource for staff in the area of expertise. Conducts clinical audits. Participates in Quality Improvement projects as a project leader, facilitator or team member.
9. Participates in appropriate research activities. Facilitates change in nursing practice.
10. Provides education and counselling for professionals and non – professionals.
11. Performs other professionally related duties as required
